PALIMPSEST

A palimpsest is a manuscript page that has been written on, erased, and written on again. Over time ghost images from previous writings remain. I see landscapes, and the paintings themselves, as palimpsests - places where land use changes over time and traces of former lives and artifacts are still visible.
